One Saviour Robert who is standing trial for allegedly trying to kill an activist, Chief Gani Topba has been remanded.
Topba(pictured), the Leader of Conscience of Ogoni People, was ambushed on March 12, 2023, and shot many times by his attackers who left him for dead but helps came his way and was rushed to the hospital and saved.
On Tuesday, a Magistrate Court sitting in Rivers State ordered the remand of Robert at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre.
The order was at the behest of the police prosecutor via an experte application for remand warrant.
Chief Magistrate Sotonye Harry, however shut out the defence counsel even from announcing her appearance and directed that the accused be remanded in prison.
She equally directed that the case file be sent to the Department of Public Prosecution for advice and adjourned the case till May 2, 2024.
