One Hassan Azeez, who killed his wife, Olayinka Hassan, in Ogun State three months ago has finally been apprehended.

Azeez in a fit of anger arising from Olayinka’s failure to get him food, and instead was washing clothes poured fuel on her body and set her ablaze, resulting in her death.

Consequently the 46-year-old fled, and concealed himself, with a manhunt launched for him by the police.

About three months into his concealment, the long arm of law has caught up with the suspect.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, he was apprehended in Benin Republic where he hid.

Oyeyemi in a remark on the arrest wrote: “Upon the report, the DPO Ibogun Division, CSP Samuel Oladele, quickly mobilised his men and moved to the scene. But before getting there, the suspect had escaped.

“Since then, the police operatives have been on his trail until 22nd of January when he was eventually apprehended .

“On interrogation, the suspect who claimed to have run away to Benin Republic confessed to committing the crime but blamed it on the devil.”
