MTN office at Festac Town in Lagos has come under attack from angry subscribers protesting blocking of their phone number lines.
Several phone users had their lines disconnected over inability to link their SIM cards with their National Identification Numbers.
The situation sparked public outrage, and consequently the Nigerian Communications Commission on whose orders the disconnection was carried out directed telecom companies to revert to the status quo.
But on Monday aggrieved MTN subscribers vandalised the telecommunications company’s office in FESTAC area.
The moment captured on camera and posted online is currently trending on the social media.
In the video, the mob could be seen destroying a barricade fence just outside the MTN office.
It got the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin talking via his X account.
“This should not be the way to go!
“Meanwhile, the DPO FESTAC and his men responded immediately after they got this report. They succeeded in restoring normalcy and are still on the ground to maintain peace,” Hundeyin wrote.
