Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappé has reportedly been named as one of 26 potential victims in a chilling kidnapping and robbery plot uncovered by French authorities.
According to French newspaper Le Parisien, an 18-year-old identified as Clément L. is suspected of being behind a criminal network that allegedly targeted wealthy businessmen, footballers, rappers and other high-profile figures.
Mbappé was reportedly described as a particularly lucrative target on a list allegedly found during the investigation.
Clément was charged in Nanterre on August 21 over organised robbery and related offences and has been remanded in custody and placed in isolation. A suspected accomplice was released under judicial supervision.
Investigators reportedly linked the teenager and his associates to a series of planned or attempted attacks between April and August 2026, including home invasions and kidnapping plots.
The case reportedly came to light after an April attack involving a watchmaker in Neuilly-sur-Seine. Investigators subsequently uncovered information pointing to a wider criminal operation allegedly targeting wealthy individuals.
Authorities reportedly found details of 26 potential victims on phones connected to the suspect, with the list including prominent sports and entertainment personalities as well as wealthy business figures.
Clément, who was already in prison over serious criminal offences, has reportedly denied being responsible for all the crimes attributed to the group.
The revelation has raised fresh concerns over the security of high-profile French sports stars, with Mbappé—captain of France and one of football’s biggest global names—among those allegedly identified by the suspected gang.
