Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has attributed the spate of killings arising from money rituals to Nollywood movies and the social media.

Fashola made this assertion at the fourth annual public lecture/symposium the United Action for Change organised and themed, ‘Security of citizens as a social contract’.
The former Lagos governor, who was a guest speaker expressed concern at the theme of most Nollywood movies, which according to him, centred on vile rituals and diabolic forces.
He claimed the social media like Nollywood combined to amplify the belief that one could become rich overnight by engaging in money rituals.
“Some people believe that if you get a man’s head or a woman’s body parts, they could be turned into money. It’s not true! And when you ask people who believe in it if they have seen it happen before, they tell you someone said they had seen it.
“However, it has become a reinforced belief through entertainment, social media and Nollywood. How can human head bring money? Money is paper invented by man, not God,” Punchng.com quoted him as saying.
