Fayose stated this at Ado-Ekiti against the backdrop of the claims by opposition on social media that he boasted that he was going to commit suicide if Buhari returned from his medical vacation.
The governor while dismissing the claims as that of “miscreants on social media”, said he could not have committed suicide because of the President’s return.
He said, “How can I can I commit suicide because of an old man? Such are from miscreants on the social media. Let me tell you expressly, why would I commit suicide, I cannot even commit suicide because of my mother.”
Fayose faulted suggestion that the 74-year-old President is old enough to be his father saying he is going to be 60 soon, and his mother is older than the president.
According to him, “Buhari is not old enough to be my father, my mother is older than Buhari. He cannot be my father, he can only be my uncle. I am close to 60. I stand by all I have said about the President.”
