Immediate past governor of Zamfara, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari said his primary assignment while in office was to expend the state treasury.

Yari stated this on the back of allegation of fraudulently enriching himself when he was directing the affairs of Zamfara and his on-going prosecution for corruption by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC.
Speaking on it on Sunday when leaders of the All Progressive Congress in the state paid him a courtesy visit at his Talata Mafara residence: “I challenge anyone who says I personalized government property or funds within and outside the country while as governor to come forward and expose me.
“As a governor, my business was to spend money which is what I did, but that was in line with the development of the state and for the benefit of the good people of the state.”
