Claim that Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed is about to run for presidency on a joint ticket with former President Goodluck Jonathan on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party has drawn his reaction.

Report was rife that the governor was being considered as Jonathan’s running mate after the former president emerged as the presidential candidate of Kabiru Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party faction.

Orijoreporters recall that Jonathan was adopted in absentia as the faction’s presidential flag bearer during a special national convention held in Abuja on Saturday.

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Nuhu Sada in an X post corroborated the report, stating that the Bauchi governor could be paired with Jonathan for the 2027 presidential race.

It has however drawn response from the man at the centre of the speculation as Mohammed took to the same X to deny the claim.

In the refutal, the governor declared that his immediate political ambition is to represent Bauchi South Senatorial District on the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement.

“Thank you for your interest in my political aspirations. However, for the sake of clarity, my focus remains firmly on contesting for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM),” Mohammed wrote.

The governor also urged the public to ignore reports suggesting otherwise.

“Any reports suggesting a different political course should be disregarded as speculative and inaccurate,” he stated.
