As at Monday night, $16,476 over N5.8m had been raised for the families of Late Sergeant Chukwudi Iboko, through the crowd funding website Go Fund Me.
Late Iboko had died from gunshot wounds he sustained in a gunfire exchanged with armed robbers at a branch of Zenith Bank in Imo State.
His colleague at the bank on that fateful day, Sergeant Sunday Agbo too died while the only survivor, Sergeant Otu Attang is crying for help after losing an eye.
Iboko’s widow interview in Punch had elicited sympathies with many urging the paper to set up a Go Fund Me for family of the late policeman to support them.
Within 24 hours when it was set up, Nigerians raised over $16,000 for the family.
The only survivor, Sergeant Otu Attang, who lost an eye to the robbery incident is asking for financial support, saying he has been paying his hospital bill.
Sergeant Attang said he was told by the doctor that he has bullets in his head and would require N3m to remove it.
“Iboko died by 4am on February 23 and we were transferred to the Police Clinic by Shell Camp, Owerri. Sunday Agbo died same day at about 3pm while we were at the Police Clinic.
“I underwent a lot of X-rays and surgeries, and it was discovered that I needed eye surgery. I had my eye surgery at Mercy Hospital, Orji, and I was on clutches for a month and three weeks as my left leg was badly battered by bullets. I also went through a surgery to repair my feet at my own expense”, he told IfeanyiCy’s Blog.
