The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has invited suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu over the N585m memo and sundry offences in line with the order of President Bola Tinubu.
Tinubu had suspended Edu and ordered her investigation following widespread criticism that trailed the leakage of her directive to the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mrs Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein.
The disgraced minister had instructed Madein to pay the said sum meant for vulnerable groups in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ogun and Lagos states into the personal bank account of one Oniyelu Bridget.
Edu is also facing allegation of awarding contract to a company Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has interest in among other purported shenanigans.
Latest report said the anti-graft agency has mandated her to report at its headquarters in Jabi, Abuja on Tuesday, January 9.
“She has been told to report to the commission’s office tomorrow morning,” sources said.
