The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone E, covering the North-East, has given GUO Transport a 48-hour ultimatum to take responsibility for the burial arrangements of five people reportedly killed in a fatal accident involving one of the company’s vehicles.

The students’ body also demanded that the transport company immediately engage with the bereaved families and provide adequate support to cushion the impact of the tragedy.

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by the Office of the Coordinator, NANS Zone E accused the company of having a responsibility to demonstrate compassion, justice and accountability in the aftermath of the fatal crash.

The association insisted that GUO Transport must respond to the families’ demands and take concrete steps to address their concerns within 48 hours.

It warned that the company would face coordinated and lawful actions targeting its business operations across the North-East if it failed to meet the deadline.

According to the statement, the proposed action would continue until GUO Transport showed genuine willingness to address the grievances of the affected families.

NANS said it would not remain silent while the families of the deceased struggled to obtain justice and support following the tragedy.

It urged the company to treat the incident with the seriousness it deserved, stressing that the bereaved families needed more than sympathy and assurances.

The association maintained that GUO Transport must demonstrate its commitment through tangible action, particularly by taking responsibility for the burial arrangements and providing necessary assistance to the victims’ families.
