Chukwudi Onweniwe, the young man facing trial over the murder of an HND student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, Nifemi Adeyeoye, has been sentenced to death by hanging.

An Akure High Court handed down the judgment on Monday to Onweniwe.

The convict had according to the Prosecutor, Jumoke Ogunjebi, abducted the deceased and dragged her to a farm near Alayere, Ogbese, where she raped her before taken her life.

Onweniwe who was charged with four offences including kidnapping was convicted on three counts by Justice Bola.

The judge said, “On the count of kidnapping, he was sentenced to life imprisonment, on strangulating and choking, he was sentenced to death by hanging and on murder, he was also sentenced to death by hanging.”
