A 15-year-old Nigerian boy living with his parents in the UK died on Saturday morning after he was stabbed on Friday night by a gang.
The deceased, Joel Adesina(pictured) according to foreign media reports was stabbed in the stomach at Bethnal Green, in East London on Friday night and died three hours later in a hospital where he was rushed to.
It was reported that there was a clash between a group of youths on foot and the occupants of a car. Joel was with the youths on foot.
An 18-year-old youth was arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and was taken in for questioning, but was later released.
Described as a talented footballer, his coach, Ricky Downes, the manager of Bardag FC Yellows, said: ‘To say that myself and the club are devastated is an understatement, we are absolutely in bits.
‘Joel was a wonderful young lad who had the world at his feet.
‘He was a very talented footballer and had ambitions of playing professionally.”
