A Nigerian footballer, Ado Hadi, has died while playing in a home match between his side, CD Madridejos and SP Cabanillas on Sunday in Spanish Terceira division.
The defender, who last played for Jigawa Golden Star before he took his trade abroad had four other Nigerians as teammates in CD Madridejos.
The 21-year-old collapsed without apparent cause in the 39th minutes of the match.
The ensuing efforts by the medical team at the Municipal Toledo ground to revive him came to naught throwing the football community into agony.
“The Castilla-La Mancha Football Federation and Castilian-La Mancha football, with its President Pablo Burillo at the helm, are totally dismayed at such an event,” a statement by the Castilla-La Mancha Football Federation on the sad incident read in part.
