The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced its suspension of Warri-Itakpe train services.

The suspension followed Thursday’s accident involving a train with passengers from Itakpe in Kogi State enroute to Ujevwu in Delta State.

Approaching Abraka rail station, faulty track caused the train to derail around 7:15 pm prompting some passengers to jump out of it through the windows but no casualty was recorded.

“This is to officially notify our esteemed passengers that the Warri-Itakpe Train will not run today, Friday, 5th July 2024, due to the obstruction we have on our track.

“We shall resume our normal train services on Monday 8th July 2024. Passengers who already booked their tickets online will be refunded,” NRC wrote in a statement with which the suspension was announced.
