Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has been shut down by Osun State Internal Revenue Service (IRS) over non-payment of over 1.8 Billion Naira debt to the state government following a court order.

The IRS obtained a court order this morning.

Acting on the order, the tax agency sealed the Senate building, the administrative block and the bursary department of the University.

Also sealed up was the institution’s main gate.

According to reports, the officials of the state revenue generation stormed the institution as early as 7.00 am to effect the shutdown.
