The immediate past Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has told of how he was almost made to retire 21 years ago by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo.
Buratai who made this revelation during his official handover to Major General Ibrahim Attahiru at the Army Headquarters said he was then a Major in the army.
He said, “Former President Olusegun Obasanjo almost retired me 21 years ago when I was a Major. My retirement after 40 years of Service is historic, hence, calls for gratitude.”
Recall that Obasanjo was in the country’s saddle as civilian president between 199-2007.
Before then, he was Head of States in the military junta that ruled Nigeria between 1976-1979.
