Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, has likened his relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari to that of father and son.
Buhari is fourteen years Obaseki’s senior. The latter recently defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and became the party flag-bearer in the upcoming September 19 governorship election in the state after he was unceremoniously disqualified by the All Progressives Congress, APC, from contesting in the party primary.
Upon the governor’s disqualification and defection, he made it known that he enjoyed the support of some of his colleagues elected on the platform of the APC.
Obaseki on Monday had a virtual meeting with President and made it public via a Facebook post wherein he touched on their relationship and what they discussed.
He wrote: “My relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari is that of a father and son. I was on a zoom meeting with the President, during which we engaged on development issues affecting Edo people and Nigerians. We also discussed measures to manage the spread of COVID-19.”
