Michael Adikwu, a sacked policeman, who was arrested in connection with the April 5 bank robbery in Offa, Kwara State, has said he masterminded the robbery in which about 30 persons among them police officers were believed to have been killed.

Recall that Adikwu, was reportedly in the employ of the Force and attached to the Kwara State Police Command where he was in SARS Unit but was dismissed after aiding robbery suspects in custody to flee.

However, he was found out to have been involved in the Offa Bank robbery after the bank’s CCTV captured him with some others during the dastardly operation in which the robbers also attacked a police station and killed several officers on duty.

Subsequently, operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT apprehended him after he was declared wanted and has been in detention at Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Latest report, said the dismissed officer has owned up to the crime and had tried to justify the killings of police officers by the gang.

“He told his interrogators that he personally killed six police officers and said his action was motivated by revenge because the force wrongly dismissed him,” sources said.
