Former Imo State governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha has bagged double awards: Sarkin Yakin Talakawa and the Garkwuwan almajairi (Ambassador of almajirai).

The awards were bestowed on Okorochas by the Tijjaninya Islamic sect in Bauchi led by the highly revered Sheik Usman Dahiru Bauchi, at the weekend during the group’s Maulud, the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

The former governor attributed the honour to his concern for the welfare of the Almajiris and espousal of the cause of the uneducated and poor Northern stratum.

“I am in Bauchi on the invitation of Sheik Usman Dahiru Bauchi, who invited me for this year’s Maulud. I was given an award as Sarkin Yakin Talakawa by the Tijjaniniya and also the Garkwuwan almajairi (Ambassador of almajirai), and I think it has to do with my passionate appeal that the lives of the almajirai should be made better in this country,” he said.
