Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa’s Special Assistant on Youth Development, Mr Lawrence Akpomiemie, has been murdered in cold blood.
Akpomiemie was killed on Friday night around 10pm at Uvwie Local Government Area of the state by unknown gunmen.
The deceased met his death in the hands of his gun -bearing attackers who laid ambush for him while he was returning from an outing with a female friend suspected to be his girlfriend in a Toyota Camry car with number plate EFR 965 SN.
He was said to have been attacked with guns fired at him in the presence of the lady who according to reports, narrowly escaped death.
Akpomiemie’s killing is believed to be politically motivated as Uvwie area where he was killed is engulfed in lingering political crisis caused by battle for supremacy between supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressive Congress.
Recall that at least six persons have been killed in the area in the last couple of weeks in the latest upsurge of violence before the botched February 16 general elections.
