Olateju Oyelakin has spoken of how he came about his stage name, Teju Babyface, revealing that the name was given to him by wife of his colleague, Tunde Adewale, aka Tee A.

Teju made this disclosure in an interview with New Telegraph where he spoke about his career.
“We were looking for a name when I started comedy officially which was in the year 2000. My name had just been Teju but the name was not a universally pronounceable name and people were not really getting it right so we were looking for something everybody could pronounce.
“Tee-A’s wife, Kenny, who was his girlfriend then came up with the name ‘Babyface’ when Tee-A, Ali baba and myself were brainstorming and as ridiculous as it sounded, we decided to go with it and it worked perfectly,” he recalled.
