Gov. Ortom

Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom, has launched a state security outfit codenamed, Community Volunteer Guards, to fight terrorism and crimes in the state.

The launch was held in Makurdi, the State capital, on Thursday.

At the occasion, Ortom promised to equip the guards with AK-47, AK-49 rifles and other sophisticated weapons to enable them dispatch their responsibility adequately.

The governor accused the Buhari-led federal government of incapacity to address insecurity and ensure safety of lives and properties, adding that the first batch of recruitment, personnel were drawn across the 23 local government areas of the state.

His word, “Buhari’s government has failed to disarm the Fulani terrorists who have continued to maim and kill our people at will, the state government is going to apply for a license to legally procure AK47, AK49 and other sophisticated weapons for the Benue State Volunteers Guards to enable them to tackle these murderous terrorists effectively.”
