Napoli FC has relegated Victor Osimhen to its Under-23 side.
Osimhen and the Italian giant whom the Nigerian international was central to its winning of Seria A in the 2022-2023 season over two decades after the club recorded such feat are on bad terms.
Their sour relationship contributed to plans by French giant, PSG, Chelsea and Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli, to get Osimhen on either book to materialise.
Now, Napoli has relegated the top striker to their under-23 side.
This came after he expressed intent to no longer play for the Serie A club.
On that same account, he was also stripped of the number 9 jersey, which was handed to Romelu Lukaku, who recently joined the club from Chelsea.
However, a few hours later, the club revealed that the initial decision had been reversed, with Lukaku handing jersey number 11 instead of the earlier published figure.
However, Osimhen will retain his number 9 jersey, but the Super Eagles striker remained unregistered for the 2024/25 Serie A season.
