The High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, has ordered Senator Elisha Abbo to pay N50m to a woman, Osimibibra Warmate, who he assaulted at a sex-toy shop in Abuja.

The video of Senator Abbo in May 2019 assaulting Warmate at a sex shop where she was an attendant sparked outrage with commentators calling for his head.
Subsequently, the senator representing Adamawa North was charged before a magistrates’ court on one count of assaulting Warmate but the magistrate, Abdullahi Ilelah, dismissed the case by upholding the no-case submission filed by the senator.
In return, Warmate took the matter before Justice Samira Bature of the FCT High Court praying for N300m.
On Monday, Justice Bature ruled in her favour and awarded her N50m damages.
It remains to be seen if Senator Abbo will appeal the judgement.
