It is no longer news that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is bereaved having lost one of police escort riders on his convoy, Inspector Ali Gomina.
Gomina was said to be off duty but was lending help to Yusuf Bawa, who went to be by his wife’s sickbed.
The death of the 45-year-old however occurred in a road accident while accompanied Osinbajo to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, forcing the Vice President to cancel his scheduled trip to Lagos to honour the deceased.
Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, said the late Gomina was hit by a hit-and-run Toyota Camry car which flung him against an oncoming truck while attempting to clear the way for the Vice President’s motorcade.
The latest is that Bawa whose Gomina stood in for when he met his death has lost his wife on Saturday morning, according to Daily Trust.
