Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke has banned top government officials in the state from foreign trips at the government’s expense.

Adeleke announced the ban at a meeting with his cabinet members ahead of the State Executive Council’s submission of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework to the state House of Assembly.

Broadcasting what the governor said at the meeting via a statement he released, his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed said springing from cash crunch, Adeleke announced the suspension of foreign trips for top officials in his government for the rest of the year, except for emergency situations.

Quoting his principal, Rasheed wrote: “Foreign trips for top officials for the rest of the year is hereby suspended unless there is a direct emergency to be authorised by the governor.

“We must sustain the momentum of our service delivery by avoiding excessive spending on recurrent and overheads. Our needs from office to accommodation are much, but our resources are limited. So we have to devise a coping mechanism pending the time our funding situation will improve.”
