Osun Lawmakers fighting over Gov. Adeleke’s N40m gift

Osun State House of Assembly is in crisis due to Christmas gifts from the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, to the members.

Report said members are in dispute arising from Gov. Adeleke’s Christmas gift to them through the Speaker, Timothy Owoeye for onward distribution.

The gift, in the form of N40m has become a subject of friction in the House.

The crisis, according to Premium Times, stemmed from the Speaker shortchanging the rest.

Owoeye reportedly gave them N250,000 each to their chagrin and anger, leading to a gang-up against him, which may cost him his office by way of impeachment.

“We are just disappointed that the Speaker cheated us. Many of us did not even know the amount until recently. I also heard that some of them are planning to impeach the Speaker,” an unnamed lawmaker told the medium.

Of the twenty-six lawmakers that are in the House, only three are elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, like Gov. Adeleke, while the rest are members of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
