Panic has spread through Benue State University, Markudi, as search for a hyena that escaped from the state’s zoo continues.
On Sunday, a hyena escaped from an enclosure at Benue State Zoo located near Benue State University Campus along Makurdi-Gboko Road.
And about a week into the fruitless search by police and zookeepers for the flesh-eating animal, students of the university have become apprehensive.
Sources said that students felt disquieted at the unsuccessful search for the hyena and are not comfortable being in the campus.
“Their fear is that the hyena is lurking around Benue State University because of the zoo’s proximity to the campus,” OrijoReporter was told.
