Apostle Desmond Eke of Deliverance Ministry of Good Shepherd, Umuehieta Avu, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment for raping his church member’s wife.
Eke is the church founder.
His conviction was handed down on Tuesday by Justice T. N . Nzeukwu of the Imo State High Court.
Slammed with three count charge that bordered on raping the victim, a member of his church, administering a stupefying substance on her which made her dizzy and weak, and betrayal of trust, the Pastor was found guilty of the offences levelled against him.
“On inquiry on why he had to violate her, the pastor told the 25-year-old woman that his semen is holy enough to deliver her of the marine spirit that was disturbing her,” the prosecution counsel, Chioma Emuka, had told the court.
“Since the woman was not completely conscious during the incident, there was no way injuries could result since there was no resistance,“ Justice Nzeukwu said in the judgment.
