The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has won the Ibarapa East Constituency by-election held on Saturday to fill the vacant position created by the death of former speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Michael Adeyemo.

Late Adeyemo died aged 47, from a suspected heart attack on April 27, 2018.
Expectation that the late Speaker’s brother, Kunle Adeyemo, would succeed him in the State House of Assembly as Ibarapa East Constituency representative was yesterday dashed.
Kunle who was the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in yesterday’s by-election was beaten by PDP candidate, Adebo Ogundoyin, son of late industrialist and football club owner, Adeseun Ogundoyin.
Ogundoyin scored a total of 6277 votes to beat Kunle, who scored 4619 votes.
