The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) in Edo State, has warned against smoking shisha.
The Edo chapter Chairman of PSN, Mr Chris Osagiede, sounded this warning in an interview with newsmen in the state.
Osagiede said the warning became necessary due to high numbers of youths of both sexes indulging in the act.
This trend, according to him, has negative consequences health wise for users.
He noted that through sharing of Shisha rope diseases such as hepatitis and other viral diseases could be transmitted, adding that users may find it difficult to wean themselves off the addiction.
“Yes, they will tell you what they are taking is shisha, but to the unsuspecting ladies, they don’t know they are gradually addicted to hard drugs, and it will get to a time if they don’t take shisha, they will not be normal as addiction has set in,” Osagiede said.
