The planned protest for Nnamdi Kanu’s release being promoted by Omoyele Sowore has come under attack from a section of youths under the name, Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum (NNYLF).

The protest scheduled for October 20, according to Omoyele would see the protesters taking a procession to Aso Rock.

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, NNYLF president, Comrade Murtala Mohammed Gamji, announced a counter-protest by the group from October 21 to 23 in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The forum’s president said the group would mobilise youths from Northern Nigeria for a three-day solidarity in support of President Tinubu.

He described the protest for Kanu’s release as a “desperate move” by politicians disconnected from the realities facing Nigerian youths.

He added that paramilitary youth organizations such as the Peace Corps, Man O’ War, Boys Brigade, and Civilian JTF would participate in the group’s march, emphasizing the need for unity across religious and ethnic divides.
