A commercial motorcyclist, Yusuf Gbadejeshin, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old peanut seller.
Gbadejeshin, 30, who is a resident of Pelewura market, Lagos Island, is facing a two-count charge bordering on unlawful sexual assault, preferred against him by the police.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Ajaga Agboko, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on January 12, at 6:00pm, at Ojoba market, Lagos Island, Lagos.
He said that the defendant, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a 16-year-old girl.
“The defendant deceived the girl, lured her to his home and raped her,” prosecutor said.
Agboko said that the offences is punishable under Sections 137 and 261 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
However the defendant denied the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Ogunbowale granted him bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the duplicate file be sent to the office of the Directorate for Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice, and remanded the accused to custody just as she adjourned the case till April 5 for DPP’s legal advice.[email-subscribers namefield=”YES” desc=”” group=”Public”]
