The Lagos State Police Command said as from June 15, it will commence massive arrest of unlawful commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada.

The State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said the new enforcement followed the unfortunate incident of May 30 when some Okada riders, attempted to burn Ibeshe Police Post but ended up burning a police patrol vehicle stationed at a black spot in the town.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, in a statement to the effect, said the State Police Command convened a meeting with okada unions in the state in attendance at the MD Abubakar Conference Hall of the Police Headquarters to intimate its members of the planned enforcement.
Oti said five resolutions were reached at the end of the meeting which would take effect from Friday, June 15.
