The report that Celestial Church of Christ, CCC ILERI OLUWA PARISH, LASU 2, Shepherd, Sup. Evang. Whepetoji Babaniyeh killed a Lagos State University graduate, Adedamola Ogunbode, for ritual has excited dismissal from the police.
Ogunbode had gone missing, and was reportedly traced to the church, with claim that his mutilated body was found buried near the premises while N1.5m was withdrawn from his account.
The report pointed accusing fingers at Evangelist Babaniyeh.
The Lagos State Police Command has now provided their insights into the matter.
As per the Command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, the 28-year-old graduate is still considered missing, adding that, it is untrue that he was found murdered.
“A report was made to the police that the said graduate was missing and three suspects were arrested, including a prophet. However, the police did not discover any mutilated body of the missing graduate as being circulated on social media. He is still missing and we are investigating a case of a missing person, not murder. There is no dead person anywhere,” Hundeyin told Punchng.com.
