A police inspector, Ajele Oloyede, has shot himself to death in Ogun State.
Oloyede’s self-induced death occurred at a ceramics company where he was attached to in Igbesa area of the state.
The incident happened on Thursday, with report saying his colleague from Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos, Tolorunloju Stephen, witnessed the sad occurrence.
Tolorunloju in the account the state police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola gave, had returned to the ceramic company from Ikeja around
1:20 p.m. and met Oloyede resting his head on a table inside the security office.
On inquiry if anything was wrong with him, the report said Oloyede answered negatively and moment later went into the room with his bag and pistol on the table.
The police spokesperson in the statement with which she broke this news said after that a gunshot was heard following which people rushed into the room and found Oloyede lying in a pool of his own blood.
“With the help of private security personnel, the wounded officer was immediately taken to Ota General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.
“Police officers visited the scene, and the deceased’s pistol was recovered. His body has been deposited at Ota General Hospital for autopsy, while we have begun notifying his family,” Odutola narrated.
