An unnamed police officer has reportedly killed a soldier at Futuk in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State on Monday evening.
Consequently, the trigger-happy officer has been arrested.
Report in circulation said the killer officer is a MOPOL officer, and was escorting a truck loaded with minerals belonging to a Chinese mining company when a group of soldiers at a checkpoint in Futuk ordered the vehicle with registration number: Gombe 676 BLG, to stop.
The soldiers’ order fell on the drivers’ deaf ear to which the group responded to by chasing after the vehicle and succeeded caught it at a place near a bridge, report said.
It adds that what followed, was an altercation between the police officer and the soldiers during which the former shot one of the soldiers to death and was disarmed by the deceased’s bereaved colleagues before he was taken to Bauchi where he is in custody.
