A policeman in Lagos, Owolabi Akinlolu, has been remanded over allegation that he raped a teenager.
Attached to Ogudu Police Station, Akinlolu had been in news over accusation that under the pretext of helping a 17-year-old to recover her stolen phone invited her to his office to have carnal knowledge of her.
The 56-year-old Deputy Superintendent was brought before an Ogba Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
The Magistrate heard from the prosecutor that the offence of defilement violates Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
In addition, he also urged the court to remand the defendant, a prayer that was granted by Magistrate O.O. Fagboun.
Fagboun ordered the defendant’s remand at the Maximum Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until March 11, 2025, for trial and further proceedings.
