The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, said the police have launched investigation into the death of a pregnant woman, Chekwube Chinagorom, at Afolmi Hospital, a private health facility located in Durumi, Abuja.
Chinagorom had died last Friday from a botched Caesarean section performed on her by ill-qualified medical workers, Murtala Jumma alongside another person.
In the course of the investigation that followed the demise of the 35-year-old, it was discovered that the hospital was operating illegally without registration in a substandard and unsafe medical environment.
“The Nigeria Police is currently assisting in identifying the individuals responsible for the surgery, verifying their qualifications, and investigating the circumstances that led to the death of the late Chekwube Chinagorom at Afolmi Hospital,” the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, told newsmen.
