The ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, is accused of plotting to remove Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar as the Sultan of Sokoto on alleged grounds that the monarch is a sympathiser of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The PDP in the state alleged this, culminating in a protest by some youths in the area protesting against the alleged plot on Monday.
The protesters took to some parts of the metropolis and terminated their protest at Sultan Palace.
“We are at the palace to alert the Sultan to the evil plot by the APC to remove him if they win the governorship election.
“They alleged that the Sultan has not been supporting the APC. They are saying, ‘new government, new Sultan.’ We will not allow them to rubbish our traditional ruler,” the group’s leader, Murtala Abdulrahman was quoted by Punchng.com as saying.
