Students of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro in Ogun State on Monday morning took to the streets of Lagos protesting the ongoing strike by three unions in the nation’s polytechnics, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics and the Non-Academic Staff Union.

The students whose school is located in Ogun State but chose to protest in a neighbouring state said that their choice of Ikorodu Road was because the road is owned by the federal government. They occupied the busy Ikorodu Road disrupting vehicular movements for several hours.

The protesters were later dispersed by the police with tears gas. It would be recalled that ASUP, SSANP and ASU embarked on an indefinite strike over government’s refusal to implement agreement it signed, aimed at rejuvenating the polytechnic system.
