One Okon Bassey whose stock-in-trade was stealing Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs in Akwa-Ibom State has been arrested.

Bassey’s arrest was made last Friday by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, in the state with 244 PVCs found in his possession.

According to a statement that emanated from the NDLEA, his apprehension and that of other suspects followed a pre-election raid operation embarked upon by the agency.

“The Akwa Ibom State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, between September 2018 and January 2019, embarked on pre-election raid operations during which 120 suspects were arrested with 51kg of cannabis, 259gm of heroin, 17gm of cocaine, 500gm of Tramadol Diazepam and Polypro.

“A suspect, named Okon Bassey, was arrested with 244 Permanent Voter Cards bearing different identities on Friday, January 25, 2019, in Mbo Local Government Area,” the statement signed by NDLEA Commander in the state, Mohammed Sokoto, read in part.
