The report that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. Presidency has been kicked out of office has drawn reaction from the presidency.
The report prevailed part of Monday on social media with one Prof Bashiru Olamilekan said to have been named by President Bola Tinubu as Yakubu’s replacement.
Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala in a social media post debunked the report.
“The story trending across media platforms to the effect that Mr President @officialABAT has either sacked the INEc chairman or has replaced the INEC chairman is not true and should be discountenanced.
“Decisions and or official acts of Mr President are communicated through official channels and not rumour,” Bwala wrote.
