The Houses of Representatives has reacted to report that it has before it a proposal for creation of additional six states.
The Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu on Monday cast light on the issue while speaking on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today.
Report in circulation has it that the Committee on Constitution Review is in receipt of a memorandum for the creation of more states to make 42.
When asked to verify the claim, Kalu who is the Chairman of the 45-member Constitution Review Committee said, “We have not received any memo as far as that is concerned. But, if that is what Nigerians want, we will go by that.
“We need to remember that equity, fairness, and balancing are necessary for all geo-political zones.
“So, if anyone comes with that proposal, we won’t deny Nigerians that quest.”
