The All Progressives Congress, APC Rivers State chapter, has charged 27 lawmakers in its fold to impeach Gov. Siminalayi Fubara.
Fubara, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been at loggerheads with his predecessor and godfather, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who is in bed with the ruling APC.
The State APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Tony Okocha, at a news briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, entreated the lawmakers to set out to boot out the governor.
“A state as crucial and all-important as Rivers State churned out a dunderhead. We cannot accept that. Our charge to the Assembly is to immediately commence an impeachment process against the Governor.
“And if they don’t do that there is what they call party discipline. We shall invoke the relevant section of the constitution,” Okocha said.
Recall that the 27 lawmakers are loyal to Wike, and defected from the PDP to APC and on multiple occasions passed, and signed bills into laws in demonstration of their support for the minister in the fight against the incumbent.
