An unnamed local security guard has been killed in Ejigbo area of Osun State for mistakenly killing a Professor, Richard Adeoriokin.

The latter was a Professor based United States, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and a frequenter of Ejigbo, where he hailed from.

His death happened at the weekend on his visit to the town for the 50th coronation anniversary of the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyosin.

Report said he met his death at the hands of a security guard whom in reprisal was mobbed to death by angry mob.

“After the event, the King’s son invited Professor Adeoriokin and some dignitaries to his house for a meeting and when they were done, he(the prince) ordered local security guards to bid them farewell with gunshots into the air.

“It was in that state that one of the guards mistakenly shot Professor in the leg, which caused his death,” sources said.

In turn, the killer guard was said to have paid with his life as angry mob descended on him and killed him.
