Each of the 109 senators in the red chamber received in excess of N30m as welcome package to cover accommodation and furniture allowance, while their counterparts in the lower chamber got over N25m each, Punchng.com reports.
The sum totalled N12.3bn with senators getting N.33bn and the federal lawmakers pocketing N9bn.
The paper said the money was paid to the lawmakers in batches as from July 5, and quoted its source as saying: “The lawmakers have been paid. They were paid on Friday. Members of the House got over N25m each and those in the Senate got over N30m. They were also paid their monthly running costs.”
