They are both staking a claim to the controversial land, a situation which degenerated recently into physical combat and proxy war.
It was gathered that while CP Gomna claimed that the land was allocated to him by Tafa Local Government in Niger State, the SP is insisting that he bought the land from the owner and that he has all necessary documents issued by the Federal Capital Territory and has since taken possession by erecting a fence and security room.
Also fingered in the crisis is a notorious land grabber, Ali Koro a.k.a Garkuwa, who is known to have caused many land crises in the area some are at the court of law.
Garkuwa was also alleged to have been issuing land documents bearing Tafa Local Government to land buyers in the area.
It was gathered that situation in the area became tensed on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at about 11 am when the CP with the assistance of Garkuwa allegedly mobilized thugs to stop ongoing construction on a land belonging the superintendent.
This was said to have resulted into serious fracas at the end of which the SP was beaten to a pulp and was dragged away from the site to an unknown destination.
However, disturbed by the development, residents in the community are no longer sleeping with their two eyes closed as the two senior police officers lay claim to the disputed land.
A resident who does not want her name mentioned, stated that the community had been contending with activities of land grabbers adding that the matter took a new dimension on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at about 11 am when she noticed a heartless and dastardly treatment melted on a policeman on the disputed land by boys believed to have been hired by the CP and Garkuwa.
She further stated that the police officer almost died as he was seen gasping for breath after he was thoroughly beaten by the hoodlums that invaded the site.
“Most of us in the community are living in fear because of the show of power between the CP and SP. We don’t what anything to happen to our children’’, she added.
“Garkuwa and his boys are land grabbers and they have been causing trouble in the area for some time now. They often boast that nothing will happen because they have the backing of senior police officers. We thought their activities were checked by the recent exercise carried out by FCT Development Control who marked all lands belonging to FCT”
According to her, the land tussle between the Commissioner of Police and a Superintendent of Police has been disturbing the peace of our community.
She added that, the two officers being law enforcement agents ought to settle the matter amicable and reconcile documents issued to them by the land owners.
‘’If they are in doubt of the original owner of the disputed land, they should go to the Federal Capital Territory Development Authority who oversee the development, planning and construction of the area’’.
She called on the authorities especially Kubwa area command and Zubwa Division whose patrol vehicles come to the area to come to their aid.
She warned that ‘’unless urgent action is taken, the issue between the two police officers might lead to loss of life and property’’.
