The police have arrested Tiwa Savage for assaulting a policeman after she was flagged down for contravening Lagos State traffic law around Eko Hotels and Suites on Saturday.
A traffic warden controlling traffic in front of the hotel upset the popular singer, who turned 34 on February 6, and had her Birthday party at Pravada lounge in Victoria Island when he accused her of flouting a traffic law and ordered her to pull over.
The ensuing argument with the cop turned messy when Savage in anger removed the cap of the policeman.
The first African female PEPSI ambassador was reportedly whisked away to the Victoria Island Police Division for assaulting the officer.
When contacted on phone, Group publicist for Mavin Records, Terfa Tilley-Gyado, confirmed the incident. He added that the records label will on Monday issue a comprehensive statement where they would state the position of Tiwa Savage and the group.
“What would you like to know? We are planning to prepare an official statement; definitely not at this time. The press release will be out on Monday for your Tuesday production.
“I don’t think it will be prudent to use the story until you have the official statement. That is just my own opinion. I think you should wait until you get the official statement,” he said.
